Dear Daughter, Moms Deserve Goals, Too

Lisa shares what it means to desire goals as a mom and how to go after them.

Dearest Daughter,

I think this is something that you should know and understand, because you may someday face this, as well, as many women and mothers do.

As women, we often lose our identity once we have a child.

We turn from an individual, to someone’s mother.

We are asked to take on so many roles, and in that, we begin to lose our own sense of purpose and forget to spend time on ourselves.

Don’t get me wrong, being a mother is wonderful, and being your mother is the best, but once I had you, I realized I started to go through the motions and honestly forgot what it is I wanted out of life.

I’ve been sitting and contemplating this a lot lately, because if I do my job well, you will fly off when you’re ready and make your own way in this life. That will leave me having to fulfill my own purpose and life once more.

But I realized why does it have to wait until you’re gone? Why can’t I hope and wish and work for the things I want now?

Why can’t I work on my own personal goals and aspirations while I raise you and your sister?

Why can’t I have my own identity and be one that I’m proud of?

My daughter, if I can challenge you to do one thing, it’s that I don’t want you to lose your identity. I want you to be proud of who you are as an individual, as a motivator, as an influencer.

And that doesn’t change after children, it only grows more important.

Love forever and always,

Your Motivated Momma

It’s so easy to lose our identity once we have children. We have everyone around us needing so many different things, and it becomes so hard to take care of ourselves, much less plan for the future, with future goals in mind.

I struggled with this, being torn between what seemed like two people, with two identities, each wanting and striving for something.

It was only until I married both of them, both identities, did I start to flourish.

And that took getting my life in order to make this my reality.

I started to make multiple goals in the different aspects of my life and started succeeding, all because I was able to make time for it successfully, without sacrificing any of my roles or my sleep.

I want to be a good mother.

I want to see success within my professional aspirations.

As moms, we deserve goals too.

And I show you how to design your life to make it possible.
